Have you noticed the many internet marketing books using the word “secret” in their title, headline or copy?

Why do they do this?

Is their actually one or two online marketing methods or strategies that are going to bring to your site an ever growing consistent stream of willing to buy targeted clients?

The simple answer is NO.

Unfortunately many website owners think this is not the case and continue to accumulate book after book and software package after software package looking for “the ultimate web traffic method”.

The fact is that there is no one single marketing method that will make your online business successful, period. Only continual application of the right methods will see your business grow and expand.

The main reasons why most people think there is one main method is because of the following four elements:

- If you wanted to be a “plumber”, you would do your apprenticeship and then work for someone or then start your own business. If you wanted to own a “milk bar” you get a business loan, buy the “milk bar” and start running the business. Why do we know this and why are there no so called “secrets” regarding being a plumber or running a milk bar? Because these businesses have been around for a long time, to start them is “common knowledge”.

- Therefore because the internet is new and evolving, how to start an internet business has yet to become “common knowledge” and there is still many unknown aspects regarding the subject unlike traditional business. Unfortunately, many now capitalize on this “unknown aspect” by selling so called “secret information” type products thus only increasing the myth regarding internet business.

- Even if starting an internet business was “common knowledge”, there is simply too much information to decipher. Unlike going to the local library, finding the business section and picking one or two of the five books on “starting your own business”; you are now on the internet. You have a world library, the business section is as big as a football stadium and books on “starting your own business online” are in the thousands (including many misleading ones).

- This final point is the most important one. People want to believe there is an easy way to get a lot of web traffic and make a fortune without any work; they just have to find it! This is just human nature.

So now you know that you must use more than one internet marketing method to make your online business successful.

Stick with the main tried and true methods -

SEO
Content
Linking
Articles
Sales Copy
List Building
Joint Ventures

and your traffic will continue to increase rapidly.

What I’m about to reveal to you in this article will literally change the way you look at ‘Amazon’ forever.

As you know, Amazon is a buyers market place and is a VERY powerful search engine for products of all sorts, especially Books.

Now, you’re probably saying to yourself, “yeah, I already know that about Amazon, but how do I get my share of Amazon’s traffic?”.

Well, I’m going to answer that question in just a few moments, but first, here’s just some of the benefits you’ll receive once you’ve ‘Set-Up’ what I’m about to show you:

- you’ll position yourself as an Expert within your Niche

- you’ll receive Highly Targeted traffic to your website

- you’ll be able to build a HIGHLY targeted ‘Opt-In’ list

Those are some pretty Powerful benefits wouldn’t you say?

And who would of ever guessed that Amazon could deliver this to you.

I only recently learned of this tactic myself from a Very well known Internet marketer who was kind enough to share it with me.

So now, I’m going to do the same for you.

Are you ready to see what Amazon can do for your Business and Credibility?

Enough said, lets get started.

Step #1. Set up a account with Amazon.

This is the easiest part of the whole task. Simply go to http://www.amazon.com and set up an account for yourself.

This should only take a few minutes and is very straight forward.

Step #2. Click on your “Your Name” Store tab.

Once you’ve set up your account you should have been given a password in order to login to your account.

If you’re not logged in already, login now.

Now, from within the members area there should be a row of tabs at the top of the members area, click on the one that says “Your Name” Store(ex. ‘Corys Store’ tab).

This will take you to a different area with a different sub-menu.

Click on the tab in the sub-menu that says “About You Area”.

Step #3. Setting up your “About You Area”.

Now this is where you have to pay ‘Special Attention’ because this is what people will see when they click on your ‘About You’ tab.

Assuming you are at the ‘About You Area’ you’ll notice that you have spots available to put your Picture, Name, Nickname, eMail Address, Real Name and About Me.

Go ahead and fill out all the area’s accept your ‘About Me’.

The ‘About Me’ spot is what I’ll talk about in the next step, but for now, just fill out all the other area’s and if you want to put up a picture of yourself, you can, it’s up to you.

Step #4. Setting up the ‘About Me’ section.

This is probably the single most important part of this whole process because this is where your potential customer will read about who you are and what you and your business is all about, so do take this seriously.

Now, you have about 4,000 characters of space to write up a description about who you are and what your business is about, so its up to you on how long you want your description to be.

Before you start writing your description this is what You have to do First within the first 70 to 80 characters of your ‘About Me’ description and I’ll show you an example of how mine looks so you’ll be able to see this in action.

(ex. About me: Hi, I’m Cory Threlfall and I’m the Editor/Publisher of ‘www.internetwondersezine.com’ which is a …)

Do you see what I’ve done?

I’ve incorporated my ‘Domain Name’ in quotes into my First 70 to 80 characters of my description so when they click on my ‘About Me’ and read my profile they’ll also see my Domain Name, and if they wish to find out more about me they can either ‘Copy and Paste or Type’ my domain into there browser which will then bring them to my website where they can either ‘Subscribe’ to my newsletter or read my sale copy which will then get them to Opt-In to my newsletter.

This is where the ‘List Building’ starts to take place from the traffic sent through Amazon.

Now, we’ve already established that Amazon is a High Traffic website and now that you’ve set up your ‘About Me Area’ the way I’ve outlined it above I’m now going to show you how to direct Amazon’s traffic to your website.

Step #5. Directing Amazon’s traffic to your website.

This is where the fun starts. And once you see How its done you’ll probably kick yourself in the butt like I did when I was shown How-To do this.

What we need to do now is a little exercise so you’ll see for yourself how you’ll tap into Amazon’s traffic.

So, we know that Amazon is best known for Books, so click on the ‘Books’ tab within Amazon’s members area. This will take you to a different page.

In the upper left corner you’ll see a ‘Search Books’ search box.

Now, for the purpose of this exercise, just so that we’re on the same page, lets use ‘internet marketing’ as the search term.

So, go ahead and type that in and press GO!.

You should now see a bunch of listings on books related to ‘internet marketing’.

Scroll down and select the “33 Days To Online Profits” link. This will bring you to its Product Description page.

Within this Product Description page you’ll find Product Details, Editorial Reviews and most important of all, All Customer Reviews.

Notice I said “and most important of all, All Customer Reviews”.

Thats right, all you need to do is ‘Write Reviews’ on books within your particular Niche and when potential customers are reviewing the book you wrote the review on and they scroll down and happen to read your review and click on Your Name to see what you’re all about, guess what they’ll see?

They’ll see your profile with your Name, Nick Name, eMail Address and your ‘About Me’ description with your Domain Name screaming out at them which can easily be typed into there browser.

There you have it, “5 Quick and Easy Steps On HOW-TO Send Your Website A SURGE Of Amazon’s Traffic For FREE!”

I truly hope you see the benefits of writing reviews and how it will make you look in the eyes of your potential customer.

This is a great tactic to use if you’re looking to establish yourself as an Expert within your Niche and at the same time, build a HIGHLY targeted ‘Opt-In’ list that you can market to for years to come.

Free traffic? The other day I saw that someone had been putting post-it stickers with the name of their website on bus stop benches and telephone poles. How many ways can you get free web site traffic? Who knows, but here are seven ways to get you started.

1. Online classified advertisements. Search “free advertising” or “free ads”, and you’ll find there are many places that you can advertise for free. Few of them seem to be of any value, but I have been using two that work well. Place a few ads, then check your reports to see if they are bringing in traffic. Start regularly using the ones that deliver.

2. Link exchanges. Link exchanges with other web sites help you get free traffic in two ways: traffic directly from the other site, and traffic from the search engines, because the link helps your ranking with them. Find sites that have a theme similar or related to yours, and send out nice e-mails suggesting an exchange.

3. Post in discussion forums. This can be a great source of traffic for some sites. You just talk about things of interest to you, and get free traffic to your web site (always sign off with a link to your site). If you link to subscription pages for newsletters or e-courses you offer, you’ll get repeat visits from the traffic. Don’t spam, or you’ll be kicked out but true participation makes a relevant link okay in many forums.

4. Search engine submissions. Don’t wait for search engines to find you. Automatically submit to 15 of them at www.freewebsubmission.com. You can also submit manually to Google (www.google.com/addurl.html). Ultimately, search engines will be some of your primary sources of free traffic.

5. Submit to directories. First do a search for niche directories for the topic of your website. Type in “directory + online games,” or whatever your site is about. Many general directories also accept submissions for free. The value of directories is not direct traffic, however (you won’t get much). The value is in the links, which help your ranking (and therefore traffic) with the search engines.

6. Write and submit testimonials. If you love an e-book or other online product, tell the author, and let her know she can use your testimonial. Of course, mention that you’d appreciate it if she left the link to your site (under your name) active. Good testimonials are valuable, and you’ve probably seen them with a name and link attached.

7. Submit articles. This is one of the best ways to generate free web site traffic. In fact, it’s why I wrote this. An article is valuable because of the “resource box,” or “about the author box” at the bottom, where there is always a link. If I leave you intrigued, and wanting more, you might click through. This is a great way to generate free traffic.

Internet marketing tools are used to build a web presence, to make your product or service know to the world. There are many types of internet marketing tools which can be used, and each are meant to be used by someone who is in need of additional marketing, additional traffic, and to increase sales in the long run.

Who is going to use items such as these? Webmasters, those who have just one site, or if you have fifty sites, these items and tools will become very helpful in your overall processing of finding customers, getting those customers on your mailing list, in front of your products and services, and eventually purchasing the products and services that you offer. Without using some type of Internet marketing tool, you will find your web site published, but that traffic will only trickle through. Using additional marketing tactics for your web site, you will increase traffic and sales.

Marketing is an ongoing task that must be performed to increase traffic, to get people through your web site and in the long run increase sales. Various types of marketing exist in the world of the online surfer, and they might not even realize that the things that they are reading or seeing, or perhaps don’t even see, are marketing tools.

A first line of marketing is ‘knowing who’ you are marketing to. A marketing tool that is going to track who is coming and going from your site will help you learn more about who is reading, using, and purchasing from your web site. Methods of marketing using trackers include such things as a guest book, cookies, and back end programming that will use information about what site a person was on before coming to your site, and then what site they went to after leaving your site. This can be very helpful in realizing how much traffic is actually turning sales on your site.

Promotion of your website begins with writing to those who are reading on your site. Even if you are selling products or services online, that are completely automated, people want to know, learn and see more. Adding as much information to your website as possible is going to add to the overall value of your site, and will be great in the additional promotion of your site through web spiders, search engines and similar types of tools.

Promotion of your web site can be done by adding your valued services or products through an affiliate program, by using an affiliate network, such as in a click bank. Pay per click, and similar types of instances create a promotion of your site, an additional awareness of your site, and it will motivate others to promote what you are selling. Giving a percentage of what is being sold to others is a form of promotion that is constantly happening in the online world.

Use solid Internet marketing tools such as email programs, guest books, blogs, articles, freebies, and viral marketing techniques to get and keep traffic moving through your site. Ad website optimization techniques, promotion and submission to all types of search engines and you can find your marketing techniques will boost your traffic. Review the many types of marketing tools available and set your goals on new traffic!

When used sensibly, website link exchanges can draw an exceptional amount of website traffic and greatly increase your search engine outcome. Nevertheless, remember that too many link exchanges can be harmful. You do not want your website clogged with other website links. This can look tacky and cause visitors to turn away from your website almost immediately. You can write to other website owners and ask them to place a link from their website to yours, but there are a few rules of etiquette you should follow. When you ask another website owner to place a link on their website, remember you are asking them for a favor. They are under no obligation to comply. If you are asking this favor from a website with more traffic than your own, this can greatly improve your link popularity and generate more website traffic your way.

If you decide to become a member of a website club that exchanges links, do your research carefully. Here are the top five tips to get you started with your website link exchange:

1. Show respect. When asking another person to place a link for your website on his or her website, be sure to ask nicely. It is very important to remain respectful. Never sound demanding or brag about how great your website, products or services are and how the person you are asking would benefit from granting you this favor. Do not make it sound like they need you. Also, do not ask many questions or attempt to flatter the recipient of your request. This may make them to delete your email inquiry immediately. Your request should only run between 2 - 6 sentences, not half a page. Be polite when asking, but do not over do it. You do not want to sound like a fraud.

2. Make sure you proofread your request. Before sending out a request to another website, check your grammar and spelling. You want the recipient to see you as a professional, not as a person who cannot spell correctly. Spelling errors and bad grammar can kill any opportunity to promote your website quickly. Avoid using slang in your request. Nothing can be more distracting and annoying than a poorly written request.

3. Send your request from your website’s professional email address, not your own email address. It is unprofessional to request this favor from a personal email account or a free email account. For example, if your website is www.lovemydog.org, then send your prospective link associates your request through the website’s email address: contact@lovemydog.org. Do not use your own personal account or a free email account.

4. Have a nice, high quality looking website. This will help you to look more serious and professional than a low quality generic looking web site. Also, be sure your website content looks professional and is free of any spelling or grammatical errors. Lose the clutter. Websites cluttered with ads can be distracting and hard to read. Having an attractive website will also help encourage other website owners to be more willing to work with you. Working with a professional is more attractive than being associated with an amateur.

5. Before you ask for your link on another person’s website, you can offer to place his or her link on your website first. This can increase your chances of having the other website place your link to their site. It can be as simple as one hand washes another. Just make sure that whatever links you use on your website have similar content to your own. It is better to have the websites compliment each other rather than clash with each other.

Exchanging web links is a great way to increase traffic to your website by increasing “link popularity” which can have a major affect on where your website appears on search engines. The websites that exchange web links with you will surely heighten your link popularity. This is especially true when the websites you are exchanging web links with have similar content as yours.

You can increase your targeted website traffic by exchanging web links with other websites. This will increase your link popularity and drive more people to your website through the links. Now do your research carefully and make your list on who you would like to contact for web link exchanges. Be careful to follow these top five tips closely and write away!

If you don’t know by now one the best ways to attract free
traffic to your site is with articles. You find them in your
email. You find them on any website that provides useful
content. Take a look and you will see they are all formatted
the same way.

Attention-getting headline

Body of article ( usually offers tips or how to
information)

Resource box - That is at the end and involves a blurb to
plug your site or product and your link(s)

I’m sure if you think about it you can come up with some
ideas of your own for great articles. A good place to start:

What is it that you would really like to know? Find the
answer online with Google or go to your local library and
write away!

Aside from creating helpful content your purpose is to
promote yourself. Thus, the resource box. Do not include
affiliate links, leave your selling for when the reader
clicks through to your site.

Okay, you’ve written an article- what now?

Submit your article to the article banks. Article banks are
depositories for articles. Like a real bank you can make a
deposit or a withdrawal. There are several articles on my
site that I did not write. I made several “withdrawals” from
some of the banks. It’s a great way to get free content for
your site.

When you are re-publishing another author’s
article you must remember one very important thing: Never
ever cut-off the resource box! They worked hard to create
something useful for you. Repay their generosity by keeping
the links intact.

And guess what? if you take your article and make a
“deposit” it’s free for others to download and post on their
site or newsletter! You could find it scattered all over the
net in no time.

Why is that good? Because of your link in the resource box.
That link is going to bring you curious visitors which means
more traffic for you!

I know from personal experience when I find some useful info
in an article I want to find more useful stuff from the same
author so I follow the link.

And because you wrote so well about your topic I will
get the impression you are an expert. We both know
that may not be the case, but if people see you as an
authority in some area they will seek you out for tips,
advice and product recommendations. That means
more traffic and ultimately more money in your pocket.

There are dozens of article banks you can submit your
writing to for free. Just do a search on the net. And
submit, submit, submit! If you write it - the traffic will
come.

There are many tactics you can use to increase traffic to your website. However, three particularly effective suggestions include search engine optimization, keyword articles, and trading links with other web pages. When you incorporate these three strategies into your overall Web site strategy you will be sure to increase your traffic.

Tip #1 Search Engines and Optimization

You need to be sure your web page is listed with as many search engines as possible and that it is optimized to return results. The more web sites that have your information the more visitors you will attract, it is as simple as that. Also, optimizing your website to be returned in the search engines is also very important. You will be able to do this through keywords included on your pages. The more keywords you have that are directly and indirectly related to your content the better because the higher the keyword content the higher ranking you will receive through the search engines. You should be focused on writing short articles that focus on specific keyword phrases for your website. The more keywords you include and variations of keywords mean the more people you will be able to attract to your page.

Tip # 2 Trade Links

Trading links is another great strategy to use for getting people to your web page. What you should do is evaluate your target market, the product you are selling, and other related products. Then, for the other related products you do some research to find the best web pages that sell these products. Then, simply suggest a link trade. That website will post a link to your web site and you simply post a link to theirs. This will not only result in your web page being returned higher in the rankings, but also more visitors because you will have access to the visitors on other web sites as well. However, be sure that the sites you want to trade links with are good quality sites. And in order for them to want to trade with you, your site will need to be of good quality. Keep this in mind before making any contacts.

Tip #3 Submit to Directories

You should also submit your URL to as many popular directories as possible. However, in order for directories to be willing to list your web site, in is important to have a good site and layout. If you are still working on that then you should hold off on contacting directories until you do. Also, your web pages will have to be completely finished and not works in progress. However, if you get some of the popular directories to list you website you will have better rankings than others which will result in increased traffic.

There are, as we know, dozens of different ways of getting traffic to your site(s); some of these methods yield high quality, targeted traffic whilst others deliver junk traffic and ensure that the only thing that you’ve achieved is throwing money down the pan.

With this in mind I’m going to take a look at a couple of the different methods of getting free traffic to your site(s) and then I’m going to have a look at how to get paid for getting free traffic to your site(s) - yes, you can get money for doing it.

Lets start by having a look at three traditional methods of getting some traffic:

1. Articles
2. Solo ads
3. Traffic exchange

These three methods are the preferred methods of most webmasters as they encompass a wide target audience.

Articles.

All of us at some point or another write tutorials of one form or another (this for example) or perhaps we write a review of something. Even better, when you’re at university you write lots of reports as part of your course.

These documents can all be used to bring you some much loved traffic.

This is achieved by submitting your article to a site such as iSnare.Com or GoArticles.Com.

How does this work?

Quite simply and without any effort from you.

When you enter your article into these services you also have opportunity to enter a biography section. This section tells the reader a little about you and also allows you to list a url (or two).

The article sites then provide the articles in their database to other sites - your biography always go with them.

This means that suddenly you have a LOT more sites linking to your site and it also means that you have a lot more people (who perhaps wouldn’t normally find your site) visiting via your biography. You should however ensure that the subject of the article has some relevancy to your site (if you write about dogs and your site is about tanks most people who read the article are not going to be interested in your site).

Solo Ads.

A solo ad is an advertisement that is sent out via email by a list owner. The price of this service can vary radically and so can the quality.

Anyone offering a solo ad service will never EVER promise a response rate (unless it’s a paid to read service).

If you do decide to go down this route there are a few things you should remember/ask:

a. What is the demographic of the list (who are they? Male, 23 - 34, IT professionals, etc)
b. How big is the list
c. How old is the list
d. How responsive is the list (best and worst cases)
e. Will the owner do a 2 for 1 deal (pay for one mailing, deliver two)
f. Is there a way of the list owner splitting the delivery (thus allowing you to test your sales copy)

If you do go this route you should remember that you are effectively only picking up the customers/subscribers once - so make sure your copy is good.

You should also remember one golden rule - do not make the sale, get a subscriber. What a stupid thing to say - I’m trying to sell something not make friends! Yep, that’s right - but - it is widely acknowledged that it takes a user 7 views of the same advert in order to act upon it (this is why some marketers will send you the same thing rehashed repeatedly for a couple of weeks). So with this in mind if you send a mailing and don’t get subscribers you’re effectively blowing your money.

You should also be aware that the size of list has no direct correlation as to its quality or responsiveness.

Traffic Exchanges.

As the title suggests you’re swapping traffic, this usually means that you surf a selection of other members sites and in return you get your site added to the rotation so that some of them see your site.

The quality of traffic is sometimes quite poor from this source as a number of people are not really interested in seeing your site - they just want you to see theirs.

So where does the making money from traffic exchanges come in?

Well, simply put, there are a new type of traffic exchange services starting who offer both a free and paid membership, the free service allows you to surf and acquire credits which you can use to buy visitors and then there’s the paid member option (normally referred to as ‘pro membership’). With both the free and pro membership levels you still need to surf the site daily but there are a couple of things different:

a. Both membership types display a slide show of other sites for you to surf
b. Both membership types require no intervention (no clicking - just watching)
c. The pro membership pays you money!

Yep, as promised there it is - you can get paid to surf a small selection of sites a day with no action required on your part.

So how does that work and are we talking about pennies here?

Most important question first, no we are not talking about pennies (unless that’s all you’ve paid for). These sites normally pay you a percentage of your membership fee as your daily surfing fee, so my favourite site pays me 12% per day over 12 days (this means I make a profit of 44% every 12 days).

So in real terms, I can choose my investment level, so here’s what it looks like:

Pro membership $120 $6 $500 $1000
Percent per day 12% 12% 12% 12%
Cash per day $14.40 $.72 $60 $120
Membership term 12 days 12 days 12 days 12 days
Total Cash back $172.80 $8.64 $720 $1440

As I said the membership level is completely at your taste. But there’s more. You not only earn your own money and surfing credits but that of affiliates - so for example if you have a couple of affiliates then potentially you’re earning 10% or everything they pay in/surf and also 2.5% of whatever their affiliates do (so a two tier affiliate system).

The affiliate commissions vary but usually they are at least two tiers. The one I recommend is 12Daily, the url is http://www.12dailypro.com/?ref=62998 - complete with my affiliate ID (quid pro quo!).

Paul Foley is a well known webmaster whos expertise lies in Adsense sites - www.Cash-Sense.com/cashsense.html Pauls other interest is getting real rich, by sometime soon so he uses www.12dailypro.com/?ref=62998 - and they are slowly making him happy (very happy) www.MortgageHelp4u.com - for mortgage info and help. www.HelpmeBuilda.Com

1. Give people a free subscription to your e-zine. Almost everyone is publishing a e-zine nowadays so it’s important to give something extra with the free subscription. You could offer a free gift or advertising when people subscribe.

2. Provide your visitors with free content. Your content will be more attractive to your visitors if it’s up-to-date or original. You could also offer people the option to reprint the content in their e-zine or web site.

3. Offer a free online directory. The directory could be full of interesting ebooks, e-zines, web sites etc. If people find your directory to be a valuable resource they will visit it over and over. 4. Give your visitors a free ebook. You could also include your own ad in the ebook and allow other people to give it away. If you don’t want to take the time to write one, you could ask other writers permission to use their articles. 5. Hold free online classes or seminars. They could be held in your web site’s chat room. The idea of “live” information will definitely entice people to visit your web site. You will become known as an expert on the topic. 6. Give visitors a free entry into your contest or sweepstakes. The prizes should be something of interest or value to your visitors. Most people who enter will continually revisit your web site to get the results. 7. Let visitors download free software. It could be freeware, shareware, demos etc. You could even turn part of your site into a free software directory. If you created the software, include your ad inside and let other people give it away. 8. Offer free online services or utilities from your web site. They could be search engine submitting, copy writing proofreading etc. The service or utility should be helpful to your target audience. 9. Give free consulting to people who visit your web site. So, you’ve set up your first website in the hope that you can attract more visitors to your business. You’ve worked a few months planning, designing, developing and paying for a great web host. All that remains to be done is for you to step back, and marvel at your creation, and wait for the visitors to come gushing in.

And so you, wait - and wait, and wait, and wait.

But the visitors don’t come gushing in. Your store is open, but the customers are not there. Your beautiful website just sits there while the dust gathers at its feet.

You don’t get it.

Suddenly you decide to Google your website to see if punching in the keywords for search will yield any results. Nada.

Ooops, wait. There it is, at page 99999 of the results page.

You begin to see the big problem.

Your beautiful site is worthless if people can’t find it. People can’t find it if it doesn’t get listed prominently on the internet.

There are billions of web users who are desperately searching for their needs. Their needs may actually be the service or product you are offering. How can direct all these people to your website?

Well, the good news is, there is hope. The amazing truth of the internet is that your company, no matter how small or large has a chance at generating huge amounts of traffic if you learn a few neat tricks of traffic generation.

Get Inside the Engine

If you want traffic to come crashing at your door, you need to know how internet users learn of the sites that interest them. There are quite a few ways how one learns of websites of interest: print ads, spot ads, referrals from friends, and others. But the most important and widely used avenue is the search engine.

Search engines like Google, Yahoo search, and MSN search all rely on a simple procedure. They have special ’spiders’ that crawl all over the web visiting sites to index them and collect data about them. The spiders then use this data in generating results of any number of search queries.

To rank highly in the results page a normal site will have to wait a few months or so. But you can accelerate that rise by following the following tips.

Turn Your Site to Gold

If you want your site to immediately hit the top spot at the search results page you need to know what attracts the search engines’ spiders the most.

1. Keywords

These spiders are constant looking for the content of these pages. If your website contains juicy keywords that directly relate to your business. The chances of having your site increase in popularity are better. You can put these keywords in either your tag or within your article itself.

For example, a site that sells cars should have the following words saturating his page: car, auto, sales, automobile, van, SUV, truck, and so on.

2. Index Your Pages

Spiders move from site to site, and from page to page by following the links that are listed in every page they visit. If you have pages that are not listed in your index page, there is a big possibility that the spiders will miss those pages. So make sure all your links are, as much as possible, at the index page. If not, at least make sure there is a direct and easy path from the index page to every page in your site.

It also helps if you have other sites whose links point to you. So get all your friends who have good sites up to show a link that leads to your site.

3. Optimize your content

Remember rule number1? Keywords have a great impact on a web site’s popularity. However, spiders are also aware that some sites abuse the use of keywords. And they know how to act accordingly. Instead of getting a better ranking, you might find your ranking falling instead.

You could add more and better content to your site. This allows you to increase the keyword density in your website without abusing any search engine rules. Examples of this would be to link tutorials, essays, and other material to your site. If these materials are keyword rich, that would increase the ranking of your web site.

4. Paid Advertisements and Directories.

You could also have your site advertised by Google or have it listed on the Yahoo directory. It may cost you money, but it does accelerate your rise to prominence faster.

Try Mixing Them Up

Mix and match these various strategies according to your needs and your capabilities. Soon enough, you will find your website up there among the most popular in the land. And as for the traffic? You’ll have so much traffic you won’t have time to close your gates.
