Organized crime aside, beating a prospect over the head is not a reasonable sales tactic. Years ago I was taught that in order to make a withdrawal, I first had to make a deposit; maybe many deposits - depending on my immediate request.

This theory should apply to our sales and marketing strategies. When we make a sales call we want something — and we want it even before the person says ‘hello’. Script reading might have worked years ago but marketing today requires a deposit of trust-building strategies before you ask for their money.

Further, scripts come off in a business-language that seems to trigger the person you have on the phone with a big ‘caution’ sign. Their guard is up and their wallet is out of reach. Part of the problem is the fact that we lose something in a phone conversation: eye contact, body language, and facial expression. Our words are offered with minimal cues.

We should be taking a lesson from those annoying telemarketing calls. They insist on trying to make a withdrawal before they have invested a nano-second of trust. And have you ever tried to listen to someone who talks at super speed? Who told them they had 20 seconds to make their point?

Trust begins with you. Build a dialogue. Let go of the idea that a sale can only happen if you control the conversation. Put your offer on hold and engage in conversation without assuming anything. I like the first part of a phone call to be largely my prospect’s voice, not mine. A few pointed questions can bring this about and humor will disarm a skeptic every time.

George Burns, the famous comedian once said, “The most important thing in life is sincerity - if you can fake that, you’ve got it made”. It seems today, that most businesses are missing the joke.

The words “sales” and “trust” are not generally used in the same text. With good reason online buyers are skeptical, even cynical about being ‘taken’. Buyers don’t trust sellers because they fear sellers have only their own interests at heart. Trust-based selling sounds like an oxymoron and they have good reason to be suspicious.

Today, every business with a ticket price over $1000 needs to become a matchmaker between their product and the needs of their buyer. Their trust in your words will confirm your knowledge, skill or competency. This instills confidence and the absence of suspicion.

So, who are you… and can I trust you? These two questions underscore all business transactions; particularly in conducting business on the Internet where face-to-face interactions of the ‘real world’ are absent.

People do business with people. Help your prospects get to know and trust you by letting your passion and personality come across in your conversation, as well as your professionalism. Communication isn’t the only ingredient for developing trust, but it is a critical one.

Exuding trust can be learned, and when consistently a part of your communication, will measurably increase your influence in all your sales as well as other aspects of your life.

Alvin Toffler, Author of “The Third Wave” said… “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

Looking for an efficient hosting service to communicate with clients and sending files over the Internet? There are two options - either you can arrange your own hosting service or can register for a professional FTP (File Transfer Protocol) hosting service. If you select ‘do it yourself” process you have to configure your own server with the help of necessary hosting software and hardware.

To set up your own hosting service for the business process you need to install a hosting server, hardware and software to support digital communication. In the ‘do it yourself’ process you have to install a server and make it accessible via Internet. This type of server is known as ‘Live Server’ and differs from other internal servers.

Other entities of your business process can communicate with each other through this live server, which will act like an FTP Server. You have to develop the hosting service inside your company that will work like a professional FTP hosting service. Therefore it is essential to create separate FTP accounts for the clients. Here you have to configure the ‘live server’ in such a way that your network administrator can easily manage the folders and files.

Server

It is recommended to buy a server appliance that supports hosting solution managed through a web browser interface. Apart from general features of the server, there are several other features:

  • Processor Type
  • Hard Drive
  • RAM
  • Remote Management
  • Data Transfer Rate
  • Data Security
  • Operating System
  • Technical Support

Apart from these you have to select an operating system for the hosting server. In general people use Windows or Linux as an operating system. Hard drive space of the hosting server matters, if you have sufficient space in the hard drive of your hosting server you can efficiently store large files, which you want to share with your clients.

FTP Software

How can you transfer files without FTP software? It is recommended to buy FTP server that is compatible with the operating system of your server. If the operating system of your hosting server is ‘Windows’ then you have to install FTP software compatible with Windows operating system. However, some hosting servers come with in-built FTP support.

You have to install the software on the server to configure your own hosting server and user accounts. Select FTP software, commonly known as FTP Client Software, based on following criteria:

  • Efficient file transfer protocol with features like - ‘Server - to - Server’ and/or ‘Local computer to another local computer’.
  • User friendly site and file management
  • Automated file transfer with File Transfer scheduler
  • Secured connection with the facility of password protection
  • Firewall support
  • User friendly interface

Price of FTP software varies based on their features. For example, the price of FTP Performer 5 or 4 Power and FTP Broker are $397.00 and $425.00, respectively. However, you can manage FTP software at low cost. Serv - U, which is considered, as a popular FTP Server for Windows the pricing starts at $300.00 for a limited version!

Internet Connection

Finally you have to take the Internet connection from an authorized ‘Internet Service Provider’ (ISP). By taking Internet connection you can make your server ‘Live’, i.e., accessible by all. It is recommended to go for the option ‘dedicated line’ of an Internet Service Provider. Dedicated line will make your hosting server accessible round the clock. To ensure fast connection over the Internet, register for Internet connection that provides high bandwidth. The minimum requirement is 512Kbps.

Worried with the cost and complex process of configuring a hosting server for your business? FTP hosting service provides all the features of transferring large files over the Internet at reasonable cost.

FTP Hosting Service

FTP service provider will allocate server space on their server, where you can store the files to share information with your client. There are two components in FTP hosting service - FTP Server and FTP Client. FTP Client is a remote computer that connects with FTP Server through Internet. Each FTP hosting service provider comes with multiple hosting plans. You have to select a right plan that provides effective support to your business. Communications are done through private FTP accounts, which are allocated for a specified FTP server. Transferring files over the Internet, from one FTP account to another, is managed by FTP software. It is recommended to select an FTP hosting service that provides FTP software. However, you can also buy FTP software separately.

It is observed that the monthly or yearly cost of FTP hosting service is less than setting up a complete hosting server. The cost of configuring a live server depends on hardware and software, which you are buying to make the server active. On the other hand, you will find wide array of FTP hosting service at affordable cost. The selection of a hosting service depends upon the required components of hosting service. Therefore, make thorough research on the price and select FTP hosting service for your business process.

Beyond Cats31 May 2008 11:16 am

This is part two of a five part series exploring simple, easy to implement stress management techniques we can do every day. These are powerful techniques that are easy to learn and they do not take a lot of time or effort. If you do not have time to listen to a guided relaxation CD, or participate in an exercise program or meditate for 30 minutes each day, then these techniques will give you a quick way to begin to combat the effects of stress. No excuses, everyone has time for this stuff so let’s get to work!

One of the most insidious aspects of stress is its ability to creep into every crevasse of our lives. It can manifest is so many negative ways, everything from common colds to cancer. One thing we do as a culture is often look at things from a negative perspective. The glass is definitely half empty and it feels like we often have a little rain cloud following us everywhere we go. We feel like the world is picking on us and that our cross is just too much to bear. Our society thrives on this negativity and it literally surrounds us constantly.

Just open the paper or turn on the evening news if you want a good steaming plate of depression. We are getting information today at a rate that has eclipsed anything in human history, especially with the invention of the World Wide Web. That’s information but not necessarily wisdom! Today we know about world events in a matter of momentes, in graphic detail, over and over, deeply ingraining the negative events into our consciousness. Frankly, it can be overwhelming and if the sales of prescription medicines designed to improve mood are any indication, millions of people in our country are suffering. So, what can we do?

We certainly can’t stop the world from moving forward and it seems that the information age is here to stay. The things that frustrate us are usually the things we can’t control but care most about. We need to be able to help ourselves refocus, to find a way of looking at the glass differently. Try this stress management strategy for the next 30 days and I believe you will notice a real difference in your ability to see the positive side of life.

Write down on a piece of paper ten things that cause you stress. It can be anything you feel that really bothers you, from family to co-workers, commute traffic to finances. List whatever it is that you feel ranks in your top ten for causing you stress in your life.

Once you have created your list of things that can cause you stress, I want you to create a second top ten list. This new list will focus on the positive aspects of your life. I want you to list the things in your life that bring you joy, anything that helps you to feel happy and grateful. Perhaps it’s your child, or spouse. Perhaps it’s your job or hobby. This is your personal list, those things that are really special to you. Once you have your two lists I want you to put them side by side.

Now take a look at your lists. You may notice that some of the things that can cause you frustration and stress may also include things that cause you joy. I can tell you that my children are sources of stress and joy all rolled into one tiny package. There is nothing wrong with this; it is just an example of the dualities of life that are constantly present. It is our challenge therefore to look toward the positive side and to rid ourselves of the negatives.

To help you with this, I want you to take the list of things that cause you stress and tear that paper up. Rip it apart and then crumple it into a little ball. Once you have accomplished this, throw it away, burn it, flush it and get it out of your life forever!

Now, take a look at your list of joy. Take a moment to reflect on why you chose the things on that list and place that list on your nightstand next to your bed. Before you go to sleep read your list. Express gratitude for those things that bring you joy and let this be your last thought before drifting off to sleep. When you wake in the morning, again read your list and feel that gratitude for all those wonderful things in your life. In this way your first and last thoughts each day will be thoughts centered on the positive and joy filled things in your life. This is how you set a positive intention in your life.

Do this for 30 days and you will begin to ingrain the habit of thinking in more positive terms. You may notice significant changes in how you start to view your world in more positive ways. This is among the best of strategies for battling stress, and, like taking a deep diaphragmatic breath, it involves very little time or effort to achieve.

In part three of this article we will take a look at muscular tension exercises to help with those hurting muscles and tension headaches.

Universe Of Management31 May 2008 07:58 am

If you operate any kind of home business, you must have become familiar about the difficulty in managing your time effectively.

Here are some time management insights to help you succeed in your home business.

Operating a home business can be challenging.

Organization and efficient management of your time and resources will be the greatest factors that will determine the degree of your success.

This may require a complete change in your daily schedule.

It may mean giving up or changing a few of your favorite pastimes - such as having a couple of beers with the guys or watching TV - but if you score big with your extra income project, you will have all the time you want for doing whatever you want to do.

The first thing to do is to sit down with pencil and paper and list your daily schedule. What time do you wake up?

Then step-by-step, list everything you do each day. Most people will find that they have about three hours each day that can be utilized in a more constructive or efficient manner.

As we’ve noted above, you may have to give up the time you waste in your local pub or a few television programs you watch, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Efficient time management boils down to planning what you’re going to do, and then doing it without backtracking.

Start by making a list of the things you want to do tomorrow, each evening before you go to bed.

Schedule your trips to the store or wherever to coincide with the other things you have to do, and with your trips to or from work.

Organize your trips to take care of as many things as possible while you’re out of the house.

Take stock of the time you spend standing around shooting the breeze - especially the time you spend on the telephone - and eliminate all that isn’t necessary.

Whatever chores you have to do at home, set aside a specific time to do them, and a specific amount of time to devote to them.

For instance, just one hour a day devoted to yard work would probably make your property the envy of all your neighbors. Don’t try to do a week’s work in one big flurry.

Whether it’s painting your house, fixing leaky faucets, or mowing your lawn and trimming your shrubs, do a part of it, or one particular job each day, and you’ll be amazed at your progress.

Take care of all your mail the day you receive it. Don’t let those bills and letters pile up on you.

If you’re unable to pay a bill immediately, file it in a special place that’s visible, and note on the envelope the date you intend to pay it. Answer your letters the same day you get them.

The important thing is to think of time as your most valuable asset, because it is.

So organize!

Decide what you have to do, and what you want to do. From there, it’s just a matter of arranging priorities.

Once you start listing and planning what you want to do, and then carry out your plans, you’ll find plenty of “extra time” for handling virtually any kind of home-based income-producing project.

People in general may not like routines or schedules, but without some sort of plan as to what is supposed to be done, the world would be mired in mass confusion

Laws, ordinances and regulations are for the purpose of guiding people. We live according to an accepted plan or way of life, and the better we can organize ourselves, the more productive and happy we become.

The secret of all financially successful people is simply that they are organized and do not waste time. Think about it.

Review your own activities, and then see if you can’t find a couple of extra hours in each day for more constructive accomplishments.

When you begin planning, and then when you really become involved in an extra in come-producing endeavor, you should work it exactly as you have organized your regular day-to-day activities - on a time-efficient basis.
Do what has to be done immediately.

Don’t try to get done in an hour something that’s realistically going to take a week.

Plan out on paper what you have to do - what you want to do - and when you are going to do it. Then get right on each project without procrastination.

Finally, and above all else, when you’re organizing your time and your business, be sure to set aside some time for relaxation.

Be sure to schedule time when you and your spouse can be together.

You must not involve yourself in anything to an extent that you exclude other people - particularly your loved ones - from your life.

Taking stock of the time you waste each day, and from there, reorganizing your activities is what it’s all about.

It’s a matter of becoming more efficient in the use of your time. It’s really easy to do, and you will not only accomplish a lot more, you will also find greater fulfillment in your life.

May these time management insights help you succeed in your home business.

Warmly,

Travel + More31 May 2008 07:12 am

It is travel time and everyone wants the best price on their hotel. It just makes sense to save money on this area of your vacation. Most people actually spend very little time in the actual hotel. They spend it vacationing! So, instead of forking over a large amount of money for your next lodging need, look for ways to save on them instead!

First of all, if you have any flexibility in where you go, when you go, and how you go, you can save a lot of money. Here’s why. To save money on travel, travel during off peak hours. Booking a hotel during the weekend will cost you more than if it was mid week. The busier the time period that you will be traveling, the more costly all of your expenses will be.

Second, if you are going to a major destination, one where there will be countless hotels and lots of people, try to find a hotel that is out of the way somewhat. Driving even just ten minutes away from the location will save you money! People insist on staying right in the action, but really it is more crowded, noisier, and just safer to travel a slight distance.

Book ahead of time! The farther in advance you can book your hotel stay the better. You’ll find that last minute fees are awful! Walk in rates are even worse. Plan ahead and book ahead, for the best rate options in hotels.

Look for the deals. Sure, everyone thinks they have found the best deal, but have they? If you spend just a few minutes online looking for different hotel rates, you will have the best options in front of you. Not only look at the hotel websites, but also look at the online travel sites as well. Sometimes, they can offer a better rate as well.

Another important aspect that you can save money on is amenities. Often times, hotels will offer some outstanding amenities. These could include spas, pools, and golf courses. There are many more. But, by placing these free amenities in front of the customer, they hope to draw individuals in. But, think about this. Will you have time to use them? Sure, they are nice features but they also end up costing you more. If you are not going to have the time to enjoy these features, then look for hotels without so many!

In the end, it is up to you to find the best hotel for your needs. We are in no way telling you that you should avoid the higher priced versions. If you want that, then by all means go for it! Make the hotel fit your needs and leave out the things that are less important to save money. Take that money and use it on a dinner out or a special treat for you and your family!

Psychology of colors - the bedroom

Color can have an astounding effect on perceptions, feelings, and interactions. Different colors evoke different memories and different ideas. In the bedroom, where one is supposed to be most at ease, it is important that you plan out your color scheme so that it creates the maximum comfort for you.

Psychologists have been studying the effects of color on people for many years. While they have made many discoveries about color effects on people in different societies, they have not found any effects that occur across all societies. For instance in China the color red tends to make people feel calm, while in America red tends to make people more aggressive. This means that the effect of color on a persons mind is individual and perceptual, rather then being physiological and inherent. In order to choose the right color for a setting, you will have to get in touch with your inner self, and see which color you harmonize best with. In the bedroom one tries to achieve maximum relaxation. By choosing the colors that you feel most comfortable with, you will find the greatest contentment with your decor.

Think about the following colors. Think about each one separately. Think about their different shades, how you feel about them, what they invoke in you.

Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue. Violet. Purple. White. Black

Once you have gained insight into how you feel about those colors, you can read about the general effects these colors have on people in American society. Don’t be afraid to disagree, your tastes are different from anyone else’s, but do keep in mind that the average American that enters the room will feel these effects to some extent.

The two extreme colors are white and black. Black is an attention grabber, and can create a bedroom with a dark, sultry look. Unfortunately it will also make the room look smaller and seem more restrictive. Overuse of the color black can be dangerous in a room like the bedroom, as it can darken a person’s mood. It may even produce night mares. Meanwhile its polar opposite, white, can be uninspiring. Most rooms start off with white walls, and it is the generic look for many homes. It can have a positive and soothing effect on ones emotions, but it may also lead to a lack of stimulation which can be a terrible thing in a bedroom. Whatever ones perceptions however, white is a good color for warm climates. White reflects light creating cooler temperatures and a breezy feeling.

The earth tones are gentle and will keep a bedroom feeling close and snuggly, as long as you pay attention to the tones you use. These colors include browns, oranges, and yellows. Browns tend to remind Americans of family, and of emotional bonds to each other and the world. Orange is a color that makes people happy, but is also the color associated with food and could lead to midnight snacking. Yellow creates a very positive effect on people psychologically, but only short term. Long term exposure to this color can lead to irritation.

Blues and greens evoke serenity and peace. They are colors associated with nature and the ocean. Using these colors heavily in your bedroom can help to calm the emotions of its inhabitants, and bring restful nights. Blue will also calm cravings for food after you’ve gone to bed, because there is very little blue food in nature, so our minds tend to repress hunger at its site. Pink is the extreme claming color and many will find it impossible to act aggressively when surrounded by it. Purple is a nice color for a bedroom that will make it look more sophisticated.

Red is an exciting color. If you have trouble falling asleep, don’t use red in the bedroom. However, to get a tired relationship going, red may be just the color you want. Red makes Americans aggressive. It speeds up their metabolism and gives them energy. Red is a good color for sheets or blankets, because if it becomes too distracting it can be put away until desired.

Combining these colors yields further effects, which are numerous beyond the scope of this article. Remember that shade and tone is important, and will alter these effects. Most importantly, you should have the final say; it is the colors effect on your own mind that is important, and only you can truly understand your own impressions.

Has anyone been to the gas pumps lately? Soon $3 a gallon will be the asking price and we’ll either have to become cyclists or create some additional income. I plan to do both of course because you can balance thrift and greed pretty well as you ride your bike to work.

I only live a few miles from my place of employment so riding my bike there is no big deal. I’ve already made a few practice runs, time and safest route. The problem is I live in S. Florida. And you can’t stand still and not break into a sweat let alone pedal for 25 minutes.

But I’ll find a way. Whatever it takes. As for the additional income side of the equation, I happen to know of a lucrative little program. It’s not easy, but if making money was easy plenty of people would be rich. Being a broker for alternative cash flows is a pretty interesting side business. You get to help people, and make money at the same time. I like that.

So alternative cash flows take a number of different forms, from cashing out future settlement, annuity, or lottery payments, to equipment leasing, to business factoring. Two great resources to learn more about these businesses. www.prosperitypartners.com and the American Cashflow Association. Both educate average Joes and corporate executives alike to make money in this secondary finance industry. I personally recommend factoring, and structured settlement cash outs second.

Gas prices are going up, faster than my salary. I need to spend less and make more. If I had a structured settlement, I’d cash it in and use it to cover my gas expenses. Not for work travel, because I’ll be riding my bike. But my new alternative cashflow customers might appreciate it if I show up in a car and not sweaty profusely on my bike.

If your existing second mortgage loan has a high interest rate, you may be thinking about refinancing. You are not alone. Millions of Americans have high interest second mortgage loans from purchasing their homes at 100% financing - even with bad credit.

Like most Americans, when we purchased our home, four years ago, we took out a first mortgage loan for 80% of the home value and then a second mortgage loan for 20% of the home value. The first loan was at 7%, while the second loan came with a whopping interest rate of 10%. Since we knew, we could refinance the second mortgage, we charged forward. Six months later, our home value was up 10%, giving us enough equity to refinance the second mortgage into the first mortgage. We ended up with one mortgage, at a much lower interest rate.

If you are struggling with bad credit, you can still refinance your second mortgage into your first mortgage to reduce your monthly mortgage payments. Here are some tips for a successful second mortgage refinance:

  • Review your second mortgage loan contract to ensure that there is no prepayment penalty associated with loan. If there is a prepayment penalty clause, contact your lender to discuss your options.

  • Shop around for the best loan terms. Don’t rush into a loan with the first lender, who knocks on your door. Your loan is a package that comprises of interest rates, fees, points, prepayment penalty clauses, balloon payment clauses, etc. Make sure you understand your loan terms.

  • Know and understand your fees. Your refinance fees may include an application fee, points, appraisal fees, etc. If you are dealing with a reputable lender most of these fees will be minimal.

Embroidered fitted hats are well shaped to fit exactly on the head of the end user. These caps are getting popular and fashionable day by day. When fitted hats carry the company logo or event, then they becomes a type of billboard and the employees and the customers who wear them become walking billboards for the company’s identity. They are perfect gifts for corporate parties and to build brand awareness.

These hats use different types of clothes such as pure cotton, pure wool, wool and acrylic, brushed canvas, and acrylic and cotton.

Embroidered fitted hats generally use only a logo embroidered on the cap. The embroidered logo could be on the front, right side, left side, back, or all around. Art and design services of the hat manufacturer help in logo designing and the position of logo on the cap.

To make an embroidered fitted hat, manufacturers use different techniques to fit the hat exactly on the head. For this, they use a hook-and-loop fastener and an adjustable buckle back closure; they also make hats in universal sizes. They also make small and large hats for different head sizes. If the head size is between 6″-7 1/8″, then they prescribe a small hat size. If the head size is more than7 “, then the end user should use large size hat.

Some hat manufacturers give a conversion chart for fitted hat sizes. They make exactly fitted hats. If the head size is 53 cm, then the hat size should be 6 5/8. The hat size increases for each cm increase in head size. For 64 cm head size, the hat size should be 8. The embroidered fitted-hat manufacturers suggest measuring the head with a flexible tape measure directly where the sweatband will rest. This could perfectly fit the head even if the size varies by 1cm.

Embroidered Hats provides detailed information about embroidered hats, custom embroidered hats, embroidered logo hats, embroidered fitted hats and more. Embroidered Hats is the sister site of Anniversary Gifts For Men.
